Frequently Asked Questions

Plushie FAQ

  • How long does it take to make a plushie?

I can complete a plushie in approximately 2-6 weeks from start to finish. This does depend on how complex the character design is, and if I am waiting on supplies to be delivered.

  • I can’t pay in full now, can I pay later?

Sure! I only require a £75 deposit up front to secure your spot and pay for material costs. This deposit is not refundable. Once your plushie is completed and you are happy with it, I will then ask for any remaining payments before I send it to you.

  • How much is postage within the UK?

I charge a flat rate of £5 for Royal Mail Signed For 1st Class postage. I will let you know once the plushie has been shipped. It should arrive the next day, but please leave up to 5 days for delivery, especially during busy times.

  • I'm not in the UK, can you ship overseas?

Yes, I can! Every country has a different shipping rate, so please contact me for a quote if you are unsure. Please be aware that any customs/income tax that needs paying when the plushie arrives is your responsibility.

  • Can you make removable accessories?

Yes, however there are some things that I cannot make removable, such as glasses, due to their construction and small size. If you would like to know if something can be made to be removable, please contact me.

  • How do you make the cutie marks?

I sew these directly onto the fabric by hand using a variety of traditional hand embroidery techniques. As these are hand sewn, please be aware that some colour and minor design changes may occur due to the limitations of this technique and the small size of the sewn area.

  • What are the plushies made out of?

The plushies are made out of Shannon Plush Fabric. They are filled with polyester stuffing and have plastic beans in each hoof, paw, or claw. The eyes are black plastic oval safety eyes. There are some occasions when a part of a plushie may require a bit more structure (such as really thin tails), in these cases I will make a metal wire armature.

  • How big are the plushies?

I make all my plushies to be a good size to have with you during meet up or conventions. They are approximately 10 inches from the front feet to the back feet. I measure the distance between the feet as they are in an outstretched position, and because the distance between the head and tail tip can vary a lot!

  • How accurate will the colours be?

The Shannon Plush Fabric currently comes in 122 different colours! I choose the colour that is most accurate to the colours on the reference image(s) you provided. Although there are loads of colours to choose from, there are occasions when the exact colour that you need is not available. If this happens, I will choose the closest match, or if there are a couple of options I will contact you to see what you would prefer.

Artwork FAQ

  • How long will my commission take?

This depends on how detailed the piece is. Simple Chibis can take only a few days, but fully detailed watercolour pieces with full backgrounds can take a few weeks. An average digital artwork can take about 1-2 weeks from start to finish. Please ask me for a more accurate turn around time on your commission.

  • Do you offer alterations if I want something changed?

Once I’ve finished the artwork and shown it to you, I will allow up to 3 minor alterations for digital commissions only. I cannot change traditional pieces once they’ve been created. If you would like to see the artwork at any point during the process, please feel free to message me, or let me know before I start when you would like updates (eg; you want to see the sketch before I line it).

  • Can I print my commissioned artwork?

Sure! Once I’ve sent you the image file, it is yours to do with what you wish for personal use only. You can print it out for your wall at home, or use it as an avatar for websites and forums etc. However, you cannot sell it as your own art or print it onto items that you intend to sell.

  • What materials do you use when making traditional art?

I use high quality papers for all traditional pieces. For watercolour paintings, I use 100% cotton cold press paper. I use Winsor & Newton’s Professional Watercolour paints and their Designer’s Gouache. For marker pen and ink images, I use smooth Bristol board. I use a variety of different inks, some waterproof, some coloured, and I also use Copic Sketch Markers.

  • How big will the traditional art be?

How big would you like it to be? If you have no preference on size, then it would depend on how detailed the piece is and what medium I’m using. Watercolour paintings will be on approximately 7x11 inch paper or on 10x14 inch paper. Marker pen art will be on A5, A4, or A3 paper. I also quite often cut the paper to fit standard sizes frames. If you would like a specific size, please let me know.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

I only require a deposit for any artwork that is over £80. Artwork that is under £80 will need to be paid in full up front. The deposit will be 50% of the total quote. This will secure your place and pay for the initial process. The deposit is not refundable. Once I’ve done the sketch and linework, I will message you to confirm you that you are happy with how it is progressing. This is when the remaining payment will need to be paid. Once paid in full, I will finish the artwork.
